Level II-Art Lesson 2: The South Korean Wedding Duck
Learn to draw a duck and learn about an interesting South Korean wedding custom
The lesson is suitable for students in grade 3 through adult.
Art Lesson Description:
A Peace Corps volunteer brought these ducks back from South Korea after working there. We found them displayed at an employment service that regularly displays artifacts people have purchased abroad.
The ducks are traditional wedding gifts in South Korea, and a design from the South Korean flag appears on the wing of the duck.
The lesson begins with the usual type of warm-up. After the guided drawing, students can finish the duck with acrylic paints. To dispense the paints to individual desks, let students put a small amount of paint in the tiny cups used to dispense pills or candy. A teaspoon of each color is probably all the paint you will need for one painting.
This lesson includes both POWERPOINT and VIDEO versions of the lesson plus 2 downloadable printouts: a warmup and a drawing of the duck.
